About the University of Dayton and the Scholarship

The private, catholic University of Dayton (UD) is located in Dayton, Ohio. It is the second-largest private university in Ohio and one of three Marianist Universities in the country. The Society of Mary created it in 1850. The 388-acre campus of the university is situated on both sides of the Great Miami River in the southern section of the city. The University of Dayton Arena and Immaculate Conception Chapel are two significant structures on the campus.

In the autumn of 2020, 11,347 full-time students from various racial, ethnic, and geographic backgrounds were enrolled at the school. In the fields of the arts, sciences, business management, education, health sciences, engineering, and law, it provides more than 80 academic programs. One of the first undergraduate human rights degree programs, according to UD, was made available in 2009. It is categorized as belonging to the “R2: Doctoral Universities – High Research Activity” group.

From 2003, when 82% of applicants were admitted, to 2015, when just 52% of applicants were accepted, admission to the University of Dayton has become increasingly competitive. The number of out-of-state and foreign students enrolled also keeps rising; almost 50% of undergraduate students are enrolled who are not from Ohio, and more than 10% of all students are enrolled as international students.

A novel net-price tuition scheme with a four-year guarantee that a student’s grants and scholarships will rise annually to cover any tuition increases were adopted by the institution in 2013. The strategy does away with extra charges and offers a free book choice. The Chronicle of Higher Education, Governing magazine, and consumer advocate Clark Howard all gave the plan favorable reviews. The University of Dayton was ranked 37th for “best value” in the United States and tied for 127th overall in U.S. News & World Report’s 2021 ranking of national institutions.
