About the University of Manchester and Scholarship
The Victoria University of Manchester and the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST) were combined to establish the University of Manchester in its current form in 2004. After collaborating closely for 100 years, the schools decided to create a single university. On October 22, 2004, they formally joined forces to become the largest one-site university in the UK.
The university places a strong emphasis on social responsibility, and by providing the chance to study in Manchester, they are dedicated to doing their part to assist people who are escaping violence and persecution. The Humanitarian Scholarship program, which was established in 2022, assists those who are in urgent danger and have had to leave their homes due to armed violence. The scholarships pay for living costs, tuition, and visas.
The institutions are providing up to 10 Scholarships for 2024 admission. A wide range of full-time undergraduate and graduate-taught courses are eligible for the scholarships, except for those in medicine, dentistry, nursing, and architecture.
Before applying for the Scholarship, you must already have an offer to study here. The application period begins on March 1 and ends on April 15, 2024. Undergraduate degrees that last three years are eligible for the scholarships. Candidates who wish to pursue degrees in medicine (MBChB), dentistry (BDS), nursing, or architecture are ineligible.
If you don’t meet the requirements for direct entrance to any of the institutions’ three-year degree programs in engineering, natural sciences, or biosciences, the school will grant scholarships for its integrated foundation year or Biosciences Foundation course. The foundation program operated in collaboration with INTO Manchester, however, is not funded. The Scholarship program covers all master’s programs except for the MBA and clinical medicine and dentistry degrees.

Application Process for the University of Manchester Humanitarian Scholarships
You must first have an admissions offer to apply. You will not be considered for a scholarship if you do not have an offer.
Please be aware that receiving an academic offer does not guarantee you a scholarship. Scholarship selection and academic admission are two distinct procedures.
You may include a contingent offer with your scholarship application, but by May 20, 2024, you must have made The University of Manchester your official UCAS decision.
You must apply online via the institution’s website. When applying for the University of Manchester Humanitarian Scholarships, you must already have an unconditional offer.
Some courses with significant demand for spots have a phased admissions procedure with deadlines for selection all year long.
Please choose the University of Manchester scheme under “Funding Sources” on the application form, and enter “Humanitarian Scholarship” for the Awarding Body type.
Your formal offer letter may state that you must submit an acceptance deposit to reserve your spot. This is not something you must do. If your application is accepted, you won’t be required to pay a deposit.
