The University of Hull played a pivotal role as a principal partner in the city’s bid to secure the title of UK City of Culture in 2017. Beyond contributing to the bid’s planning, the university, along with its dedicated staff and students, actively participated in various events throughout the year.

For instance, the Hull Maritime Museum featured a multimedia installation depicting a Bowhead whale during the initial three-month season. This creative endeavor was a collaborative effort involving students from Hull School of Art and Design, with musical contributions from Hull University. The opening event, spanning from January 1 to 7, featured a multimedia projection named “Arrivals and Departures,” drawing inspiration from Dr. Nick Evans’ work on migration patterns into and through Hull.

In a commitment to fostering diversity and accessibility, the university offers a series of £10,000 scholarships to support students from diverse backgrounds in pursuing the MSc in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. These scholarships, designed for full-time study during the academic year 2023–2024, underscore the university’s dedication to promoting inclusive education and facilitating the pursuit of cutting-edge disciplines.
