Australian Government Destination Australia Program for 2023

Application is now open for the Australian Government Destination Australia Program. Interested applicants are encouraged to send their applications in before the deadline date.

About the Australian Government and Scholarship

The national government of Australia, a federal parliamentary constitutional monarchy, is the Australian Government, sometimes referred to as the Commonwealth Government. The Australian Government is composed of three branches: the executive (the prime minister, ministers, and government departments), the legislative (the Parliament of Australia), and the judiciary. This structure is similar to other Westminster-style systems of government.

The House of Representatives, which is the lower house, and the Senate, which is the upper house, make up the bicameral federal legislature. There are 151 members of the House of Representatives, each of whom represents an electoral district with a population of roughly 165,000. The Australian Capital Territory, the Northern Territory, and the six states of Australia each have two senators in the Senate, making a total of 76 senators. The governor-general stands in for the reigning King Charles III of Australia.

The party or coalition with a majority in the House of Representatives is the executive branch of the Australian government, and the prime minister is the parliamentary leader who has the backing of the majority of the House of Representatives members. The governor-general appoints the prime minister in writing to fill the position.
