Application is now open for the Dorothy Hill PhD Scholarship at the University of Queensland. Interested applicants are encouraged to send their applications in before the deadline date.

About the University of Queensland and Scholarship

In Queensland, plans for a university first surfaced in the 1870s. In 1874, a royal commission led by Sir Charles Lilley argued in favor of starting a university right away. In a society where fundamental industries were dominant, many opposed to universities believed that technical education was more significant than intellectual education. In response to this resistance, the institution’s proponents distanced themselves from Oxford and Cambridge and put out a different paradigm that was centered on the mid-western states of the United States. Arts, law, medicine, science, and applied science were the five faculties that the Second Royal Commission suggested for a new university in 1891.

According to The Economist Intelligence Unit’s 2016 MBA ranking, the UQ Business School’s Master of Business Administration program is ranked first overall in Asia Pacific and among the top 10 globally. According to the Australian Financial Review, UQ offers the best MBA program in the country. UQ is ranked first in both the Academic Ranking of World Universities and U.S. News & World Report for life sciences universities in Australasia.
