Eligibility Criteria for Economics Undergraduate Indigenous Scholarship
Applicants are advised to meet the following requirements to be eligible for the Economics Undergraduate Indigenous Scholarship at the University of Queensland:
- be an Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person
- Are enrolled or plan to enroll full-time in the year of the award in the Bachelor of Economics or dual degree
- Able to prove their financial necessity
- Don’t have another scholarship that the school head considers comparable.
- Having not finished any previous coursework at the bachelor’s or higher level.
Selection Criteria
The university will consider:
- displayed financial need
- demonstrated interest in economics
- academic accomplishment and ability
- personal qualities, including leadership potential.
Application Process for Economics Undergraduate Indigenous Scholarship
Interested and eligible for Economics Undergraduate Indigenous Scholarship using the online application form. Each candidate will need:
- Information on your prior academic successes
- Proof of your incapacity to get cash or your financial necessity (such as an ATO or Centrelink declaration)
- A 500-word maximum written response to each of the following questions:
- Describe your need for the scholarship, your financial situation, and how it will help you.
- What draws you to studying economics and what goals do you have for your studies?
- Describe your attributes. You can add examples of your potential for leadership, information about your care for others, your community participation, your accomplishments in art or sports, or anything else you think is important.
- Additional pertinent supporting materials for your application
Documentation attesting to your Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander status will also be required. Usually, an official document with the common seal of a community organization would be used for this. In cases of extraordinary circumstances, statutory declarations and other types of paperwork could be taken into account.

What Next?
After you submit your application, the scholarship office will contact you to acknowledge it, and they will write to let you know the results. If you make the shortlist, they’ll get in touch with you to set up an interview.
