About Queen’s University Belfast and Scholarship

Queen’s University Officially known as the Queen’s University of Belfast (also known as Queen’s or QUB), Belfast (Irish: Ollscoil na Banrona) is a public research university in Belfast, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom. The institution was founded four years after receiving its charter as “Queen’s College, Belfast” in 1845.

At different levels, Queen’s offers almost 300 academic degree programs. Ian Greer serves as vice-chancellor and president at the moment. With an expenditure of £421.3 million (without USS provision), the institution’s annual income for 2021–22 was £434.9 million, of which £98.4 million came from research grants and contracts.

Queen’s is a part of the Association of Commonwealth Institutions, the European University Association, Universities UK, and Universities Ireland. It is also a member of the Russell Group of research-intensive institutions. One Turing Award winner and two Nobel Prize winners are connected to the university. Queen’s was ranked 32nd out of 93 UK universities in the Times Higher Education rankings for 2018. Queen’s was placed 173 in the 2019 QS World University Rankings. In the SCImago Institutions Rankings of institutions throughout the world, it came in at number 258.

Queen’s University came in at number 12 in the UK for student satisfaction in the 2013 National Student Survey. According to the 2018 QS World University Rankings, Queen’s ranks 202 in the world. Cancer, sustainability, radiocarbon dating, wireless technologies, creative writing, medicines, and sound arts are among the subjects of research at the institution. The Complete University Guide placed the university 36th in the UK in 2016.

In recognition of its efforts to provide comprehensive cancer services and raise patient survival rates in Northern Ireland, the institution has received the Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Further and Higher Education on many times. In recognition of their efforts in the fields of engineering and technology, Queen’s University received the Queen’s Anniversary Prize in 2015.

In acknowledgment of its efforts to advance and improve gender equality in higher education and research, the institution has also been given an Athena SWAN Silver Award on a university-wide level. Currently, they are the holders of three Departmental Athena SWAN Gold Awards, one for each of the Schools of Psychology, Medicine, Dentistry, and Biomedical Sciences, and the School of Biological Sciences.

Only international students who started a full-time, four-year undergraduate degree at the Queen’s University Belfast campus in September 2021 are eligible for the Queen’s Excellence Award. Only students enrolled in approved undergraduate programs for the whole duration* are eligible for the Queen’s Excellence Award. Students must have started Year 1 of their studies at Level 1 to be considered full duration. This grant is not available to students from International Year One program, articulation partnership agreements, or programs comparable to those.

Queen’s University Belfast International Office Undergraduate Scholarships – Eligibility Criteria

  • Students will get a merit-based reward in the next academic year 2023–24 if they earn a 75% GPA in the current academic year 2023–24. This award may be given to exceptional students for several years as long as they maintain a minimum GPA of 75%.
  • For this reduction to be taken into consideration, students must be recognized as foreign fee-paying students who are paying the full international tuition cost. The Queen’s Excellence Award is not open to students who pay NI or GB tuition.
  • Self-funding is required for students.
