Application is now open for the University of Kent Business School Hardship Bursary. Interested applicants are encouraged to send in their applications before the deadline date.

About Kent Business School and Bursary

Kent Business School (KBS), an integral part of the University of Kent, stands as a distinguished institution that has played a vital role in shaping the educational landscape since its inception. While there may be two business schools known as KBS, King’s Business School, established in 1980, holds historical precedence, predating Kent Business School by eight years. Since its founding in 1988, Kent Business School has been a key player, offering a diverse range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD degree programs, including The Kent MBA.

The physical footprint of KBS spans across two strategic locations: The University of Kent campus in Canterbury and the Medway campus located on Chatham Historic Dockyard. In a significant move in March 2017, Kent Business School at the Canterbury Campus found a new home in The Sibson Building, a facility named in honor of Professor Robin Sibson, the third Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kent.

The academic standards at Kent Business School are noteworthy, with prospective undergraduate students typically required to achieve ABB-AAB at A-Level to secure admission. This competitive edge is reflective of KBS’s commitment to academic excellence at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Beyond its academic programs, Kent Business School is actively engaged in research, conducting workshops, conferences, and research seminar series. The school’s dedication to research has fostered numerous international collaborations, resulting in over 200 co-authored papers with esteemed global partners. Research activities are organized into various groups, including Accounting, Finance, Management Science, Marketing, People Management and Organisation, Strategy, and International Business. Additionally, Kent Business School hosts research centers such as The Centre for Quantitative Finance and The Centre for Logistics and Heuristic Optimisation.

Recognizing the financial challenges that some postgraduate students may encounter, Kent Business School takes a proactive stance by offering a range of hardship bursaries. These bursaries, available to both UK and international postgraduate-taught applicants, are awarded based on financial need. Prospective students are encouraged to articulate their financial challenges within their application essays. Whether applicants are parents, mature students juggling significant financial commitments, registered with a disability, or facing other financial hurdles, the KBS Bursaries aim to provide meaningful support toward the costs of studying and living. In doing so, Kent Business School reinforces its commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive academic environment, where students from diverse backgrounds can thrive.
