Melbourne, Victoria, home to Monash University (/mnae/), is where this public research institution is located. The second-oldest university in the state, it was founded in 1958 and is named after renowned World War I general Sir John Monash. The Maxwell King PhD Scholarship (MKS) was created in Professor Maxwell King’s memory. Professor King served Monash University for eight years as the pro-vice-chancellor for research and research training, and during that time, he greatly influenced graduate research at the institution. This prestigious prize is meant to help a PhD candidates with living expenses while they are enrolled at Monash. A completely financed grant for overseas students is the Maxwell King PhD grant. This scholarship is just for PhD candidates. This scholarship includes a $36,800 yearly living stipend, a $1,500 relocation payment, and a $1,500 annual research allowance.

Eligibility Criteria for Maxwell King PhD Scholarship
Applicants are advised to meet the following conditions to be eligible for the Maxwell King PhD Scholarship at Monash University:
- Required Language: English
- General English Language Test requirements: IELTS: (6.5) overall (no band lower than 6.0); TOEFL: (79+); Reading: 13, Listening: 12, Speaking: 18, and Writing: 21.
- requirements for the arts, business, and economics English language tests: IELTS score of (7) overall (no band lower than 6.5) and (94+) Writing 24, Speaking 20, and Reading 19 on the TOEFL.
- All nations in the world are eligible.
- An International student.
- A New Zealand citizen.
- An Australian citizen.
- Australian permanent resident.
- Australian humanitarian visa holder.
- Have applied for a scholarship this year;
- Be enrolled in or plan to enroll in a PhD program at Monash University.
Note: Students pursuing Joint Research Awards with Monash University as their home university are also eligible for this scholarship.

Application Process for Maxwell King PhD Scholarship
Unless you are already enrolled, applications for graduate research fellowships are submitted at the same time as applications for your course. Both the admissions and scholarship processes use the same application. You don’t need to mention which scholarship you’re applying for since, if you’re eligible, you’ll be taken into account for all graduate research fellowships.
