About the University of Southern Queensland and Scholarship

The University of Southern Queensland (USQ) is a medium-sized university located in Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia, with additional campuses in Springfield and Ipswich. USQ offers a wide range of programs, including those in law, health, engineering, sciences, business, education, and the arts. Its history dates back to 1969 when it was established as the Darling Downs campus of the Queensland Institute of Technology. Over the years, it evolved and expanded, becoming the University of Southern Queensland in 1992.

USQ is known for its unique features, including having the largest Japanese-designed garden in Australia, a solar-integrated carpark, and a library with rainforest elements and water features. The university has received international recognition for its commitment to sustainability, focusing on renewable energy, waste reduction, water conservation, and integrating sustainability into its strategic planning.

USQ has also made notable research contributions, with its archaeologists discovering some of the oldest rock art in Australia, dating back 28,000 years. In 2018, its astronomers identified a new planet orbiting an ancient star that’s nearly 2 billion years older than the sun.

For the academic year 2024, the University of Southern Queensland will be offering grants to non-award international students who are beginning or continuing their enrollment in the Study Abroad program, which is available during Trimesters 1, 2, or 3. Please note that only students enrolled in the Study Abroad program at USQ, applying directly or through an approved partner institution, will be eligible for these grants. Students using the services of a registered agent are not eligible for this grant.
