In Essex, England, there is a public research institution called the University of Essex. One of the first plate glass institutions, it was founded in 1965 by royal license.
You may qualify for a scholarship of up to £5,000, which will be deducted from your tuition fee if you are an international student who completed your undergraduate studies abroad or in the UK and are paying for your postgraduate education on your own. The prize will be worth £2,000 to qualified students having a degree from a UK university.

Eligibility Criteria for the University of Essex Academic Excellence Scholarship
Candidates are advised to meet the following conditions to be qualified for the University of Essex Academic Excellence Scholarship:
- Only students who pay their tuition from abroad and who are fully self-funded are eligible for these awards.
- Students in one of the listed nations who have completed the necessary university coursework may be eligible to receive these scholarships. Students must have resided in one of the other listed nations for a degree conferred by a UK-based university to be recognized.
- University of Essex graduates are not eligible to receive this award.
- Awards given by organizations with headquarters in the aforementioned nations but presented outside of those nations are also eligible.
- The undergraduate degree (including integrated master’s degrees) must have been earned by the student with the stated grade or above.
- It is not possible to use a better Master’s grade to make up for a lower bachelor’s grade.
- For the first year of a full-time Master’s program at the University of Essex in the academic year 2024–2025 only, students must register in October 2024 or January 2025. This program will lead to the following degrees: MA, MSc, LLM, MRes, MPP, and MBM.
- Candidates who meet the academic requirements for admission and who have firmly accepted an offer of a seat before July 12, 2024 (for an October 2024 start date), or October 11, 2024 (for a January 2025 start date), will be given consideration for these scholarships.
- The award is non-combative with any other scholarship offered by the University of Essex. Students who meet the requirements for this award and enroll at Essex with a lower rate thanks to a link arrangement will be awarded the higher value award.
- Only the first year of a master’s program is eligible for this prize.
- * Successful Applicants should be available for promotional events. Students will be deemed self-funded if they receive a repayable loan to help pay for their education. This covers—without being limited to—loans for tuition from the following organizations:

- Norwegian State Loan (Lanekassen),
- Swedish Board of Student Finance (CSN),
- Denmark State Educational Grant and Loan Scheme
Students who are not eligible:
The students listed below, while fulfilling the prerequisites, are not qualified for the University of Essex Academic Excellence Scholarship:
- Students enrolled in an advanced course at East 15 Acting School.
- Students taking a course offered by Kaplan Open Learning, which operates as the University of Essex Online and is often taught entirely online.
- Undergraduate courses: Graduate Certificates, Graduate Diplomas, Postgraduate Certificates (PGCerts), Postgraduate Diplomas (PGDips), among others.
- Deferred entry is not eligible for this scholarship grant.
- In cases where a student who has been granted a scholarship decides to postpone their admission to the upcoming academic year, the scholarship will be revoked and their application will be reevaluated based on the new suggested year of entry’s terms and conditions.
- Students with either full or partial sponsorship.
- Students who receive cheaper tuition through a connection arrangement to enroll at Essex. The university shall use the award with the higher value in this instance if a student is also qualified for it.
- Pathway students at the University of Essex International College (UEIC).
- Students enrolled now whose first year of graduate studies at Essex University took place before the 2024–2025 school year.
- University of Essex graduates are not eligible to receive this award.
