Recognizing the diverse needs of its student population, the University of Hull has instituted the Humber Grant, an additional support package designed for individuals under 25 years old who are Care Leavers, Young Adult Carers, or assessed as Estranged from their families by Student Finance England. This grant, valued at £1,000, is a combination of cash and vouchers, providing crucial financial support without the burden of repayment. It reflects the university’s dedication to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for students facing unique challenges.
Moreover, the institution goes the extra mile for new students in the academic year 2023/24, offering a £200 voucher for UniKitOut to procure essential items like bedding and kitchen equipment. As part of the University of Hull Humber Grant package, a £100 supermarket e-voucher is also included, ensuring students have the means to acquire food and essentials.

University of Hull Humber Grant – Eligibility Criteria
Applicants are advised to meet the following conditions to be qualified for the University of Hull Humber Grant:
- Upon the commencement of the academic year, students must be UK citizens, be residents of the UK permanently, and be 25 years of age or younger.
- Applications for awards are open to students under 25 who are young adult caregivers, care leavers, or who are no longer in contact with their relatives.
- Evidence of their status as Young Adult Caregivers or Care Leaver, or their estrangement from their family, will be required of the students.
