The reputed University of Liverpool International College UoLIC Excellence Scholarship is designed to honor extremely bright international students who transfer from UoLIC to a non-clinical undergraduate degree program at the University of Liverpool in September 2023.

About the University of Liverpool

Liverpool, England is home to the public research institution known simply as the “The University of Liverpool” (UOL). It was established in 1881 as a college, received its Royal Charter in 1903, which allowed it to grant degrees, and is also recognized as one of the six “red brick” municipal universities, the first of which is known as The Original Red Brick. There are 35 departments and schools spread over its three faculties. The university management school is triple-crown recognized, and it is a founding member of the Russell Group and the N8 Group for scientific collaboration.

The institution provides more than 230 first-degree courses in 103 topics, and among its former teachers and graduates are nine Nobel Prize winners. The CEOs of companies including GlobalFoundries, ARM Holdings, Tesco, Motorola, and The Coca-Cola Company are alumni. It was the first university in the UK to set up departments for biochemistry (at the Johnston Laboratories), civic design, oceanography, and architecture.

As the first Sino-British university in the world, the university founded Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University in 2006, making it the first institution of its kind in the UK. Liverpool’s revenue in 2021–22 was £612.6 million, which included £113.6 million from grants and contracts for scientific research. Its endowment is the seventh-largest of any institution in England. To identify the university, graduates are styled with the post-nominal letters Lpool.

The institution was once included in the top 150 universities worldwide and is now placed in the top 1% of universities worldwide by the academic ranking of world universities. It was also a founder member of both the Northern Consortium and the Russell Group.

With 33,000 students enrolled in more than 450 programs covering 54 academic areas, the university is a research-based institution. One of the major medical schools in the UK, the University of Liverpool School of Medicine was founded in 1835 and offers a wide variety of teaching and research in the arts and sciences. It also has a close relationship with the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, which is nearby.

The University of Liverpool was placed 31st out of 124 universities in the Complete University Guide 2013, which was published in The Independent. In the 2008 edition of The Times Good University Guide, Liverpool was ranked 34th out of 113 institutions. The University of Liverpool was placed 27th out of 123 universities in The Sunday Times university guide recently.

The University of Liverpool was placed 29th out of 122 colleges and universities countrywide by The Sunday Times in 2010. The University of Liverpool was ranked the 99th best in the world by the THE-QS World University Rankings in 2008 and the 137th best globally in 2009. The university moved up 14 spots to 123rd in the QS World University Rankings for 2011—14. The University of Liverpool came in at number 29 in the 2013 Times Good University Guide. The 2016 Round University Ranking places Liverpool at 122 in the world (and 15 in the UK).

You must meet the following requirements to qualify for the University of Liverpool International College UoLIC Excellence Scholarship: 

  • be required to pay the entire amount of tuition at the overseas rate
  • attain one of the top academic results in a UoLIC Foundation Certificate program, reaching at least 75%, and enter a new non-clinical undergraduate program in the academic year 2023.
